I completed my training to be a spiritual director in 2016 at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary. I have cross-cultural experience, having lived in Guatemala for approximately 16 years. I specialize in working with survivors of child abuse, but I work with others who do not have that experience as well. I currently work in English, Kekchi and Spanish. My view of God has developed significantly over the years. I believe that it is important to explore our view of God as we grow in our spiritual life. I welcome people who question traditional understandings of God and I am not afraid of hard questions of faith (though, of course, I do not have the answers to those questions). I have a passion for relating to people who have been wounded in life, in one way or another. I see myself as a wounded healer and God as the ultimate Healer.

Spiritual Direction is a conversation between God, you and me, where each of us is listening to ourselves and the other two; the aim is for the directee and God to move closer together. We are cultivating our ability to notice and be aware of God’s movement and work in our lives and in the world. I have experienced God through work with the Enneagram, body-spirit connection, focusing prayer, cross-cultural experiences and relationships, dark night, grief, creativity, arts, spiritual disciplines and more. I attend a Mennonite Church. I have been a part of an eclectic array of denominations and value the strength and charism each brings to the body of Christ. I worked with refugees in the US and I love cross cultural relationships. I am married and have two elementary aged children. I graduated from the Center for Spiritual Direction at North Park Seminary and have been offering Spiritual Direction since 2012.

As a spiritual companion, I meet my companions where they are on their own unique and individual spiritual journey to God. By providing a safe, quiet, and respectful space and time, we remain open to the Holy in our everyday lived lives. My background is in the Roman Catholic faith with ten years of being educated in Catholic schools. I have raised two children in an interfaith family with my non-Christian husband of over 45 years. I have work, volunteer, and personal experiences in the following areas of: neurodiversity, mental health challenges, neurological impairments resulting in communicative and cognitive disorders, functional communication disorders, transgender identity, women's issues, and interfaith dialogue. I received my certificate in Spiritual Companionship from Lindenwood Retreat and Conference Center. I accept companions of all faiths or no faith ("nones") and those who consider themselves spiritual but not religious. I offer a discounted rate (50% off of the full cost) for our first session to help you discern if we are a good match.

Joyce works extensively in ongoing spiritual direction, individually directed retreats, the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, and dreamwork. She marvels at the wholeness of life and God using all of creation and life experience to be in communion with us. In her work with individuals and groups, she helps people discover God present in the dailiness of life, drawing from a variety of approaches to help people recognize and respond to God’s presence. A Roman Catholic Sister of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, Joyce holds a Masters degree in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University (1977), a Doctor of Ministry degree in Spiritual Direction from the Graduate Theological Foundation (1992), and a certificate from the Haden Institute Dream Leader Training Program (2009). Joyce is an avid quilter and is the founding director of Bethany Retreat House (East Chicago, Indiana) where she served for 25 years.

I approach spiritual direction as holy listening, walking with or companioning a person to hear/see God at work in their life. This may include discernment of direction for the future, moving through grief or anxiety in the present or healing of the past. I am open to people from all faiths, cultures, and sexual orientations. I received Spiritual Direction training at the FCJ Centre in Calgary, AB, Canada, graduating in 2013. In addition I have an MA in Peace Studies from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, a BA in Political Science from Valparaiso University and many hours of training and experience in Mediation and Conflict Resolution. For 41 years, I was a Pastor's spouse until my husband retired in 2018. I have two adult children and four grandchildren.

My role is to accompany you on this spiritual journey as we pay attention to the Spirit, the real Director. I am currently serving in Pastoral Care ministry in my church. I am also leading our Sunday church services when our pastor is on vacation. I have also led a small group weekly Bible study for the past three years. I completed Stephen Ministry training in 2004. I would love to connect with you to explore a deeper relationship with God.

I was trained in Ignatian Spirituality through the Archdiocesan Spirituality Center of New Orleans, Louisiana over 25 years ago, and have pursued renewal and deepening training over the years. An image of spiritual direction for me is the Road to Emmaus - we walk together, listening to ups and downs of one's life with the focus upon the Spirit in the midst of life. The spiritual journey is the heart of our lives and finding our spiritual homes, whether within a tradition or not. I love taking the time to listen, speak, accept, surrender and choose what brings joy and love and hope.

Coming alongside a person’s journey with God is a joy and privilege! In listening contemplatively to each other and to the Spirit of God that moves our hearts, new life can spring. That might be in the form of discernment, new patterns of relating to God and people, new peace, joy and love. We shall see. Everyone is welcome. My practice flows from my love of Jesus. I benefit from a variety of church and para-church experiences (though my children say they were denominationally confused.) I have training in the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola and certification from the Ruah School of Spiritual Guidance in Richmond, Virginia. I enjoy the ongoing support and training of The University of Notre Dame Campus Ministries and from Michiana Spiritual Directors Network. Fees are an option; I accept what you can afford.

As a long-time recipient of spiritual direction, I have found it to be a safe environment where I can speak freely…what I say is gently held/not judged and afforded confidentiality – a place where I am led to awareness of God’s presence and have the opportunity to open myself to a God who loves me beyond my understanding. I completed spiritual direction training in 2019 through the Lindenwood program and endeavor to provide the same level of direction/holy listening that I have been blessed to encounter. I am a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Cicero, Indiana. I am married and live in Noblesville, Indiana. I am retired after a career in human resources and have a bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Personnel and Industrial Relations. I have some experience with 12 step programs.

In sessions with directees, I hold space for the exploration of the freedom available through the healing work of the Divine in your life. I only lightly manage the conversation, believing that the Divine speaks to you directly. The sessions give the time and opportunity to learn how to hear and then discern what is heard and what it means. I lead retreats for small groups in contemplative practices and listening to the Divine. I am willing to travel to lead a retreat you are planning. In 2024, I completed a Graduate Certificate in spiritual direction at the Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary. I am a "maker" working with fabric, paper, and string. Some of the life experience I bring to my practice is a divorce, deaths of close family members, 25 years of marriage, a cancer diagnosis and treatment, and coming out as queer.

Peace. As a Spiritual Director, I accompany seekers with openness, curiosity, and inter-spirituality. I honor each person with dignity and respect as they wander and wonder through a sacred space of connection, invitation, and discernment. Trained in Spiritual Guidance at the Siena Center in Racine, Wisconsin, I also bring experience as an artist, engagement and retreat facilitator, tai chi for health instructor, and companion to the bereaved. My practice is rooted in creative and contemplative experiences that help me stay present to what has been, what is, and the possibilities of what can be.
